This sounds great and exactly what I suggest: to work on one thing at a time to get a grip on the technique of Working Through Desire.

The only thing to add is to consider calling your desire something more welcoming than a monster, as it will help you to develop an acceptance of it, so you become more willing to live and spend time with it.

I think of it as my brain doing its best to keep me alive – given that (as far as my limbic system knows) I live in a world of food scarcity and famine.

I don’t like the idea of a monster living inside of me, but perhaps it could be a friendly monster to you.
