I have also experimented a bit with IF and have found that my motivation makes a huge difference to the experience.
When I first tried it, my motivation was to lose weight and I found it very difficult – I got very strong cravings and I thought about food all the time. It was very stressful and unpleasant.
However when I tried it more recently with the motivation to feel less sluggish, to feel more healthy and to calm my digestive system a bit I found it a totally different experience. I think it was because I could feel those benefits immediately and this made it pretty easy for me.
I have to be careful with myself though, because it is easy to fall back into a restrict/binge cycle. Which makes me feel far worse than if I had just stuck to a regular eating pattern in the first place! Again, just my own thoughts and experiences here.
